How to Use the Orthodox Content Finder

This site helps you find Orthodox Christian videos, books, podcasts, and more.
You pick what you want by clicking buttons. The results show up as colored pills you can click to visit.

The Basics

Click a button in any row to turn it on (it will glow gold).
Click it again to turn it off.
As you choose, the pill buttons below change to match your choices.
Click any pill to open the resource.

The Four Rows

Each row is a different kind of filter. They can be collapsed or expanded by clicking the row label (like “Type” or “Theme”).

Type – What kind of resource it is (video, book, etc.).
You can pick more than one. It will show any of them.

Theme – What the resource is about (Scripture, prayer, history).
If you pick more than one, it will show only things that have all of them.

Style – How it feels or is presented (scholarly, humorous, etc.).
Also uses "all" like Theme.

Source – Who made it (Lay, Clergy, Church, Professional, Monastic).
You can pick more than one. It will show any of them.

Search Bar

Type a word to find resources with that word in the title or description. Clear it to go back to the cross.

Sort Dropdown

Change the order of the pill buttons:

Default – original order.
A–Z – alphabetical by title.
Type – grouped by type.
Source – grouped by source.

Size Button

Click it to make text bigger. Click again for even bigger. Third click returns to normal. It says Size 1x, 2x, 3x.

Light / Dark Mode

Click the sun/moon button to switch between dark and light backgrounds.

Reset All

Click Reset All to clear all buttons and search, returning to the starting cross.

Color Legend

Pill buttons (results) have colored borders based on who made them:

Lay – made by regular people, not clergy.

Clergy – made by priests or deacons.

Church – directly from a church body or official ministry.

Professional – made by a studio, network, or organization.

Monastic – from monks or nuns.

Definitions of Hard Words

Apologetics: Defending the faith with reasons and arguments.
Catechetical / Catechism: Teaching the basics of Orthodox Christianity.
Ecclesiology: The study of the Church.
Eschatology: The study of the last things, like the end of the world.
Exegetical: Explaining Scripture deeply.
Hesychasm: A traditional method of prayer focusing on stillness.
Liturgics / Worship: Church services and how we worship.
Monasticism: The life of monks and nuns.
Patristics / Church Fathers: Early Christian teachers and their writings.
Sacraments: Holy rituals like Baptism, Communion.
Spiritual Warfare: Fighting against evil thoughts and temptations.
Symbolism: Using images and signs to show deeper meaning.
Theology: The study of God.
Scholarly / Academic: Serious, studied, like a university lecture.
Polemical: Arguing strongly against opposing views.
Prophetic: Speaking truth boldly about society or the Church.
Cultural Critique: Examining modern culture from an Orthodox view.
Contemporary / Modern: Current, up-to-date.
Devotional: Focused on prayer and personal piety.
Narrative / Story: Told like a story.
Cinematic: Looks like a movie, high production quality.
Archival: Old footage or historical recordings.
Real Life / Candid: Unscripted, real people.
Based on True Story: Inspired by real events.
Interview: A conversation between people.
Lectures: A talk given by a teacher.
Sermons: A religious speech, usually by clergy.
Courses: A series of lessons.
